WGMD Fishing Report 4-1-19

With gale warnings up and rain showers about, Sunday wasn’t much to write home about.  However, we have some good reports left over from Friday and Saturday to share with you.

The Lewes Ice House reported that a young lady by the name of Eileen Blackburn caught a doubleheader of white perch out of the Broadkill River.  The largest weighed .90 pounds and the smaller went .86 pounds qualifying her for a Delaware citation.  She was using bloodworms and grass shrimp for bait.

Steve at Smith Bait in Leipsic said the pier at Woodland Beach is seeing good numbers of white perch on bloodworms and grass shrimp.

My friend Suzanne Martin posted her first rockfish of the year on Facebook.  It was a short caught at Herring Point on a bloodworm.

The black drum and flounder run on the seaside of the Barrier Islands of Virginia got well under way on Saturday.  After I saw a few fish late Saturday afternoon, I saw quite a few more on Sunday morning.
