WGMD Fishing Report 4-14-19

Saturday was dark and gloomy with small craft advisories up so no boats ventured out to the ocean or bay.

Clark at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle had some good news as the tog bite turned on at the Inlet.  Anglers caught shorts and keepers on green crabs and shrimp from the rocks and sidewalk.  Short rockfish were caught on chartreuse and white bucktails or shads were the top lures.  Small rock were also caught from the beach on bloodworms.

With some folks having time off during this spring break season they may want to consider a trip to Hatteras Island.  Right now the red drum action is very good from Rodanthe on down to Cape Point.  Many of these fish are well over 40 inches with some slot fish taken as well.

The final figures are in for the number of Delaware Fishing Citations issued in 2018.  The total for the year was 362.  In 2016 the program issued 435 and in 2017 they issued 495.  It looks like I was not the only one who had a bad year in 2018.
