WGMD Fishing Report 5-9-19

hannity-promo

Wednesday was another beautiful day.  Black drum were caught from Broadkill Beach during the day and from the Coral Beds on Tuesday night.  Clams seen to work best at night with sand fleas doing better from the beach.

Blues were caught at Indian River Inlet early in the morning during slack water.  Metal lures worked best.

The Army Corps of Engineers has built a ten-foot high chain-link fence around the collapsed sidewalk on the northside of the Indian River Inlet under the Route 1 Bridge.  If you have spent any time there you know this is one of the better, if not the best, fishing spot for shore fishermen anywhere along the Inlet.  The rips that make up here tumble the bait and attract blues, rockfish, shad and other species.  This location is now off limits to anglers.

The Army Corps of Engineers does not have the money to repair the sidewalk and the underlying problems that caused the sand to washout.  We need to contact Senators Carper and Coons along with Representative Rochester and ask them to help.
