WGMD Fishing Report 8-9-18
Thursday saw good weather again and flounder were caught although the new moon current made holding bottom in deep water difficult.
Tony at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid had a combination trolling and bottom fishing trip. He caught a lot of blues along with nice-sized Spanish mackerel trolling at Fenwick Shoal and they had some flounder while bottom fishing. Captain Cary Evens on the Grizzly brought in a good catch of flounder to 5.75 pounds on Wednesday.
Chris at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em said the head boats brought in some flounder. A private boat had a 27-pound cobia. The boats from Indian River that are in the White Marlin Open were not back when I called.
The current leaderboard at the White Marlin Open has the Under Dog in first place with an 83-pound white marlin. Their prize is $2,600,000 and the Lights Out dropped to second with a payout of $130,000. The other big change was in the tuna division where Buckshot moved into first place with a 75.5 pounder that is worth $900,000.
