WGMD Fishing Report 9-18-18

Tuesday should be the final gasp from Hurricane Florence and some of the larger charter boats may be able to sail by Wednesday or Thursday.  It will be very interesting to see what they find.

My son Roger gave me a fishing report from North Jersey where the head boat Golden Eagle ran offshore over the weekend and caught yellowfin tuna and lots of dolphin.

On my way to the Massey’s Ditch hearing on Monday I noticed some of the beach access points were still closed.  I suspect the beach has quite a drop off after the erosion caused by the big seas over the past week or more.

One of the more interesting facts that I learned at the hearing was the sand flow between the north jetty at the inlet and the north beach goes around in a circle.  The normal flow is south to north which is why the sand builds up along the south jetty.  The two big sand bars inside and outside the inlet are created by the water flowing through the inlet that carries sand to and fro.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report
