A wood stove has been determined the cause of a fire that broke out last night at a home in Fruitland.

The blaze was reported at a location on North Division Street in Fruitland, called in by a passerby around 8 p.m. Thursday evening. The Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office tells WGMD firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control.

Investigators believe it was caused by the failure of a wood stove pipe located in a detached garage near the home.
