UPDATED: Dewey Beach Fire Under Investigation; 3 Firefighters Injured

UPDATED – 1:20pm – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire early Monday morning on Carolina Street in Dewey Beach. Firefighters from Rehoboth Beach were called just after 3am and found a single family home heavily involved in fire. The residence was not occupied at the time of the blaze, which also caused exposure fire damage to neighboring properties.
The investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing – damage is estimated at $1-million.
Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries that occurred at the scene.

Firefighters from Rehoboth Beach are on the scene of a structure fire on Carolina Street in Dewey Beach. Crews arriving at the scene just after 3am found 1 house fully involved with extension to two other structures. Crews from Milford to Millsboro have been called to assist or backup as they are encountering winds of 15 to 25mph while trying to battle the blaze. Firefighters remain on the scene and the State Fire Marshal is investigating. Just after 5:30, Dewey Beach Police, who are also on the scene, report three firefighters have been transported by EMS for injuries and dehydration.
