UPDATED: 3 Vehicle Crash Near Long Neck Leaves One Dead

UPDATED 8/16/19 – 3pm – The investigation into Thursday’s crash near the intersection of Routes 5 and 24, however Delaware State Police say 79 year old Gene Crone of Rehoboth Beach has died from his injuries at Christiana Hospital.  Police say Crone was  not properly restrained at the time of the crash, which involved two other vehicles.

A Rehoboth Beach man is hospitalized after a crash near Routes 5 and 24 at Long Neck. Delaware State Police continue to investigate but say a Subaru was southbound on Route 5 north of Route 24 and crossed the center line into the path of a Ford Explorer The driver of the Explorer, a 79 year old man from Rehoboth Beach tried to avoid the impact but was not successful. He was not properly restrained and is in critical condition at Christiana Hospital. An Audi that was behind the Explorer struck the rear of the Explorer. The drivers of the Audi and Subaru were both properly restrained – and neither seriously injured.
