Delmarva, Chesapeake Seek Natural Gas Rate Hikes; PSC to Review Filings

Delmarva Power and Chesapeake Utilities have filed applications with the Delaware Public Service Commission seeking to raise natural gas supply rates beginning November 1st, 2025. Delmarva is requesting a 43% increase in its gas cost rate, which it estimates would raise a typical customer鈥檚 monthly bill by about $11.33, or 13%. Chesapeake is seeking a 30% increase in its gas sales service rate, which it projects would raise a typical bill by $16.51, or 18.6%. Both utilities say the filings reflect pass-through costs of purchasing and delivering natural gas, while the office of the state鈥檚 Public Advocate has pledged to review the requests on behalf of customers.
