Hurlock Voters Choose a New Mayor in Saturday’s Election


Hurlock voters on Saturday opted for change! Voters chose Earl Murphy as their next Mayor with 230 votes to incumbent Charles Cephas’s 141. Incumbent Councilwoman Bonnie Franz returns to the Council to represent District 2 after receiving 54 votes to challenger Zia Ashraf’s 23. Filling the At-Large council seat will be Jeff Smith, who won 208 votes to challenger Cheyenne Chase’s 155. District 1 Councilman, David Higgins ran unopposed and returns to the town council for another 4 years.

The winners will be sworn in on Monday, December 1st at 6pm at the town office.
