Governor Matt Meyer Nominates Jon Sheehan for Delaware State Board of Education President
Governor Matt Meyer has nominated Jon Sheehan to serve as the next president of the Delaware State Board of Education. Sheehan is a longtime public servant with experience in education policy at both the state and national levels. According to the Governor’s office, he currently serves as interim executive director of the University of Delaware鈥檚 Biden Institute and previously worked as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Meyer, helping advance priorities related to education, workforce development, and school funding. Sheehan also held several senior roles under former Governor John Carney, including education policy advisor, chief of policy, and deputy chief of staff. During his tenure, he helped shape a new school funding framework and supported initiatives addressing homelessness and workforce training. Sheehan鈥檚 nomination to the role is pending final approval by the Delaware State Senate.
