Delmarva Power Continues to Restore Service to Customers Impacted by Winter Storm Hernando


UPDATED – 02/27/26 – Delmarva Power continues to work to repair damage and restore power after last Sunday’s storm that brought blizzard conditions and strong winds to Delmarva. Officials say nearly 66,000 customers lost power because of the storm – the most severely impacted in Sussex County, Delaware and the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. And officials add that about 90% of those customers were restored within 24 hours. Crews have worked around the clock to assess damage and rebuild areas of the electric system where extensive damage occurred.  

As of noon on Friday – Delmarva Power had 15 customers without power in Sussex County and in Maryland about 280 in Somerset County (west of Pocomoke) and 56 in Wicomico County.

ORIGINAL STORY – 02/25/26 – Delmarva Power has restored power to more than 96 percent of impacted customers and has added 400 additional personnel to support restoration efforts, including external and mutual assistance crews from sister Exelon companies, Baltimore Gas & Electric and PEPCO. Crews are working to respond and restore service safely and as quickly as possible for customers. As of 3 p.m., today, February 25th, approximately 1,200 customers remain without power from the storm. This includes approximately 1,100 customers in Sussex County and less than 50 customers in Maryland. Most of these customers should be restored throughout the rest of the day today, the 25th. All remaining customers are expected to be restored by 11 p.m. Thursday, February 26th. The total number of customers currently out of service may include those that have experienced outages after the storm and will be prioritized based on our restoration process.
