Accidental Fire Caused by Unattended Burning of Tree Limbs


Unattended burning of tree limbs led to an accidental fire yesterday afternoon on Union Church Road in Salisbury. The fire occurred at a 24′ x 24′ detached two-story garage. According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the occupant of the home had been burning tree limbs and brush behind the garage. He stepped away briefly, leaving the fire unattended. The blaze then spread across natural cover and into his garage. The estimated total loss including structure and contents is $100,000. No injuries were reported.
