A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday morning after he brought a handgun to Caesar Rodney High School.

Delaware State Police arrested 15-year-old Dakarae Piazza, of Magnolia, after he was found in possession of a handgun while on school property.

Piazza was contacted by the school administrators due to an unrelated school policy violation, at which time he told them he was in possession of a handgun.

School administrators immediately notified the school’s resource officer, who searched his backpack and found a 9mm Glock handgun and a fully loaded magazine.

Piazza was taken into custody without incident and charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm and Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone. He was arraigned and released on unsecured bond to a guardian.
