UPDATED: Arrest in Shooting Incident at Village of Westover – Investigation Continues
UPDATED – 08/04/26 – A 16 year old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in the area of Broadstairs Place on July 6th. Throughout the investigation additional victims and property damage has been identified beyond what was initially reported. Four occupied residences, one unoccupied residence and twelve vehicles were struck by gunfire – making a total of 29 victims. It’s believed one person was the intended target.
On July 9th a 16 year old Dover resident was arrested on unrelated charges after he was found with a loaded 9mm handgun concealed in his waistband. The handgun was determined to be one of 4 discharged during the July 6th shooting and the 16 year old was one of the shooters.
The 16 year old was arrested Monday and charged with multiple offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Reckless Endangering First Degree (14 counts)
- Discharging a Firearm at a Vehicle (12 counts)
- Person Under 21 Prohibited from Possessing a Firearm
- Person Under 21 Prohibited from Possessing Ammunition
- Conspiracy Second Degree
- Criminal Mischief (17 counts)
The juvenile suspect was already incarcerated at the Stevenson House in Milford on unrelated charges when the warrant was obtained and remains held there.

ORIGINAL STORY – 07/07/26 – Multiple homes and vehicles in the Village of Westover in Dover were damaged in a shooting that occurred Monday evening just after 5. Police were called to East Broadstairs Place where they located about 40 spent shell casings in the roadway. Police learned that 10 unoccupied vehicles and five homes were struck by gunfire – no injuries have been reported.
Video surveillance shows a maroon SUV was traveling through East Broadstairs Place when several suspects got out of a dark-colored sedan and opened fire on the SUV. Both vehicles left the scene before police arrived and have not been located.
