Effects from Hurricanes Idalia, Franklin Felt Near Mid-Atlantic Coast

With the recent landfall of Hurricane Idalia, you might be wondering what kinds of effects we are expected to get from the storm. On the eastern shore of Virginia in Northampton County, they have gotten effects from Hurricane Idalia in the form of heavy thunderstorms. This area has felt the effects from Hurricane Franklin as well as Idalia with gusty winds along the coast. Also, a beach hazard statement has been in effect for the last several days and continues into this evening for the Delmarva and southern New Jersey coast. Expect rough surf conditions with breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet and high risk of rip currents. For those out in the water on boats, a small craft advisory is in effect for Delmarva and southern New Jersey until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
