Governor Moore Announces Record Law Enforcement Funding in FY 2027 Budget

Governor Wes Moore this morning announced a record $124.1 million in funding to support law enforcement in the governor鈥檚 proposed FY 2027 budget. Governor Moore stated that the proposed funding reflects the administration鈥檚 commitment to improving public safety through a comprehensive approach that supports law enforcement, strengthens communities, and invests in residents. He noted that recent declines in violent crime demonstrate progress and that the proposed investments aim to continue those trends so residents can live safely and with dignity.
According to the data released:
- Homicides are down 25% statewide鈥攖he lowest in nearly 40 years.
- Non-fatal shootings are down 28% statewide compared to 2024.
- Robberies are down more than 25% statewide鈥攅xtending a decades-long continuous drop in incidents.
Preliminary data indicate that since the Moore-Miller Administration took office:
- Homicides are down 44% across the state, down 58% in Baltimore City and down 39% in Prince George鈥檚 County.
- Non-fatal shootings are down 40% statewide.聽聽
