UPDATED: Rehoboth Beach Voters Elect Susan Stewart as Mayor and Return Incumbents to City Commission
UPDATED – 08/08/26 – Rehoboth Beach voters have elected Susan Stewart to be their next mayor. She was the top vote-getter of the four candidates who ran to take over after Mayor Stan Mills announced that he would not run for re-election. Stewart received 623 votes, Craig Thier received 203, Suzanne Goode got 177 votes and William “Jake” Raak received 23 votes. Both incumbents have been re-elected to the town commission. Mark Saunders was the top vote-getter with 852 followed by Patrick Gossett with 813. Jeffrey Good received 239 votes. City officials say 624 votes were cast in person at the Convention Center and 474 voted by absentee or early ballot.
Stewart, Saunders and Gossett will be sworn in at the September 18th commissioners meeting.

UPDATED – 08/03/26 – A reminder – the Rehoboth Beach municipal election is Saturday, August 8th. Tuesday, August 4th is the last day that you can have an absentee ballot mailed to you. The request form for an absentee ballot must be filed no later than noon the day before the election (in-person), Friday, August 7. Absentee ballots must be returned in person or received by mail before polls close on Election Day.
There are 4 candidates running for Mayor – William Raak and current commissioners Suzanne Goode, Susan Stewart and Craig Thier. Two seats are up for election on the City Commission – incumbents Patrick Gossett and Mark Saunders are challenged by Jeffrey Goode. All seats are for 3-year terms.
The polls will be open Saturday from 10am to 6pm at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

UPDATED – 06/01/26 – The filing deadline for the Rehoboth Beach municipal election has passed – voters will be electing a Mayor and 2 City Commissioners on Saturday, August 8th. Each seat is a 3 year term.
There are 4 candidates running for Mayor – William Raak and current commissioners Suzanne Goode, Susan Stewart and Craig Thier. Current Mayor Stan Mills announced some time ago that he would not be running for re-election.
There are two seats on the City Commission up for re-election. Incumbents Patrick Gossett and Mark Saunders are challenged by Jeffrey Goode, the husband of Commissioner Suzanne Goode.
Voters who are not registered to vote in the municipal election – have until July 9th to register at City Hall.

ORIGINAL STORY – 05/31/26 – Monday is the last day that you can file as a candidate in the Rehoboth Beach municipal election. Candidates must file their paperwork in the City Manager’s office by 4:30 Monday afternoon. Voters will be electing a Mayor and 2 City Commissioners on Saturday, August 8th.
If you need to register to vote in the election – you have until July 9th to register at City Hall.
