Rehoboth Beach Man Arrested for Burglaries

Delaware State Police were called to 302 the Local for a report of a burglary on September 27 and learned that earlier in the morning a lack male forced entry into an outdoor walk-in refrigerator behind the business and took nearly $2000 worth of food and alcohol. On Monday Troopers were again called for another burglary and learned that a black male wearing all black and carrying a white backpack forced entry into an outdoor walk-in refrigerator, stole food and left on a bicycle. A search of the area turned up 60 year old Craig Beckett who had the stolen food in his backpack.

He was arrested and further investigation tied him to the September burglary.

Beckett was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Burglary 3rd Degree (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
  • Theft over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Theft under $1,500
  • Criminal Mischief under $1,000 – 2 counts

Beckett was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $14,000 secured bond.
