44 dogs have been safely evacuated to southern Delaware from the path of Hurricane Laura in the Gulf.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA says a Wings of Rescue mission brought the dogs from shelters in several Louisiana parishes. The flight arrived Tuesday at Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown.

The dogs will be available for adoption.

More shelter dogs are expected to arrive today from Louisiana and possibly Texas.
