The weather wasn’t terrible on Wednesday, but the fishing was.

I went up on Broadkill Beach in the late morning to catch the flood tide. I set out two rods with fresh clam baits and rebaited them every 10 to 15 minutes. When I arrived, the wind was light out of the east and the water was clean. Around noon the wind picked up and the nasty brown sea weed moved in. I gave up around 1:30 PM.

Lewes Harbour Marina reported that Hugh Wissinger was tog fishing on the Grizzly with Captain Cary Evans when he hooked, landed and released a 48-pound striped bass. Jeff Purdy, Ticen Willey and Leah Layfield managed to catch nine keeper flounder out of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal on Tuesday.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said tog were caught on sand fleas and green crabs under the Inlet Bridge on Wednesday.
