Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 9-30-23

Saturday was another lousy day on the water with small craft advisories up through Monday. The wind is forecast to stay out of the east all of next week with seas running to 5 feet as well. At least the sun, you remember the sun, is supposed to shine.

Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park reported slow fishing for spot and croaker on bloodworms and Fishbites. They did see some big eels caught and that caused some excitement on a generally slow day.

Old Inlet Bait and Tackle said a lot of small tog were caught at Indian River Inlet on Saturday. Frozen sand fleas and shrimp were the two top baits. Some customers couldn’t understand why there were no live sand fleas. The reason is the beaches are closed due to erosion and the people who catch the sand fleas can’t get to them. It is also why we don’t have a surf report.
