UPDATED: Dagsboro Voters Send 3 Incumbents Back to Town Council

UPDATED – 12/07/25 – Dagsboro voters have returned all three incumbents to the town council for another two years. Carol Thompson was the top vote-getter with 72 tallies. Jason Russell and CJ Shortridge each won 60 votes and challenger Barry Hurst received 32 votes. Thompson, Russell and Shortridge will be sworn in at the December 15th meeting.

UPDATED – 12/05/25 – Dagsboro voters go to the polls on Saturday to elect three people to the town council. Four candidates filed for the three open seats – incumbents Carol Thompson, CJ Shortridge and Jason Russell are challenged by Barry Hurst. A reminder – absentee ballots may be received until the polls close Saturday – polls are open at the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company on Clayton Street from 1 to 5pm.

UPDATED–11/19/25– The election date for the Town of Dagsboro is Saturday December 6th. Four candidates filed for the open seats – incumbents Carol Thompson, CJ Shortridge and Jason Russell are challenged by Barry Hurst. Request forms for absentee ballot packages may be obtained from the Town Hall or website at any time. Absentee ballot requests must be received no later than 12 p.m. Friday, December 5th. Absentee ballots may be received up to closing of the polls on Election Day.
UPDATED – 11/17/25 – Dagsboro voters will be headed to the polls on Saturday, December 6th to elect three people to the town council. By the close of business on Friday, four candidates had filed for the open seats – incumbents Carol Thompson, CJ Shortridge and Jason Russell are challenged by Barry Hurst. However if there is still a candidate interested in running for a seat on the council – candidates will be accepted at tonight’s Town Council meeting at 6pm at the Bethel Center on Clayton Street.

ORIGINAL STORY – 11/14/25 – Today is the filing deadline for candidates to file for Dagsboro’s municipal election in December. Candidates interested in filing for the 3 open seats have until the close of business today – 4:30 to file their paperwork.
Today is also the filing deadline to register to vote in the municipal election on December 6th.
