WGMD Fishing Report 10-9-22

Sea bass fishing was good on Sunday. Surf fishing, not so much

The Delaware Mobile Surf Fisherman’s Annual Surf Fishing Tournament only had two winners. Scott Aiken, Jr. won the Open Division and $1,000 with 26 points. He also won the Kingfish Calcutta worth $525 with a 12.5-inch king and he won the Big Fish Calcutta and $750 with the same 12.5-inch king. The Bluefish Calcutta and $1,110 went to Matt Vincent.

After I left the awards Ceremony at the DMS Tournament I headed to Lewes Harbour Marina. There I found the cleaning table covered with black sea bass and flounder. The Jay Sea II with Captain Jamar Campbell had just unloaded a boat load of beautiful fish including some of the biggest sea bass I have ever seen. They were caught over ocean structure during a full moon that made for some difficult fishing conditions.

The Katydid was in early with another boat limit of black sea bass plus a few flounder. The weather looks good for a few days so the fishing should follow suit.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
