Bicycle Safety Checkpoints to be Held Throughout the Summer in Lewes/Rehoboth Beach Area


DelDOT along with the State Police and Sussex Cyclists are hosting Bicycle Safety Checkpoints throughout the summer in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach areas. These will provide bicyclists with free safety information, trail maps, bicycle lights, helmets and basic bicycle repairs to keep residents, visitors and seasonal workers safe while traveling by bike.

Cyclists are encouraged to stop by to learn about Delaware’s bicycle laws, receive safety equipment, and have their bicycles inspected by DelDOT staff.

The first checkpoint is Wednesday, June 24th from 4 to 7pm at Church Street near Canal Crossing Road in Rehoboth Beach.

  • Monday, July 13th from 3 to 6pm at the Lewes Library at the Georgetown to Lewes Trail  
  • Thursday, July 16th from 5:30 to 7pm at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior on Bay Vista Road in Rehoboth Beach  
  • Monday, July 20th from 4 to 7pm at Route 1 at the Nike Outlet at Tanger Bayside in Rehoboth Beach  
  • Tuesday, July 28th from 5 to 7pm at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach  
  • Thursday, July 30th from 4 to 7pm at Route 1 at the Nike Outlet at Tanger Bayside in Rehoboth Beach  
  • Monday, August 3rd from 4 to 7pm at the Lewes Library at the Georgetown to Lewes Trail 
  • Wednesday, August 12th from 4 to 7pm at Church Street at Canal Crossing Road in Rehoboth Beach
