Delaware House Approves Constitutional Amendment to Abolish Death Penalty

In what was a historic vote, the Delaware House of Representatives passed a bill to permanently abolish the death penalty in the First State. The constitutional amendment passed yesterday, June 24th with bipartisan support by a vote of 28 to 12. House Bill 35 (S) now heads to the Senate and will be assigned to a Senate Committee for a hearing. Constitutional Amendments in Delaware require a two-thirds (2/3) vote in two (2) consecutive legislative sessions.聽
