Delaware Supreme Court Justice Morgan T. Zurn Sworn into Office
In a small and private ceremony, Delaware Supreme Court Justice Morgan T. Zurn was sworn into office today. The oath of office was administered by U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Tamika R. Montgomery-Reeves, who was a Justice on the Delaware Supreme Court from 2019 to 2023, at the judge’s Wilmington chambers. Justice Zurn was appointed to the court by Gov. Matt Meyer in June and was unanimously confirmed by the Delaware Senate to a 12-year term on June 30, 2026. Prior to her appointment, Justice Zurn served as a Vice Chancellor on the Delaware Court of Chancery from 2018 to 2026 and as a Magistrate in Chancery from 2016 to 2018.

Before joining the Court, she was a Deputy Attorney General at the Delaware Department of Justice where she litigated criminal appeals before the Delaware Supreme Court and handled consumer protection and white-collar enforcement matters. Prior to her state service, she was a patent litigator. Justice Zurn holds a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, and a Master’s degree in bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Virginia. In taking office, Justice Zurn becomes the fifth woman to serve on the Delaware Supreme Court. She takes the place of Justice Karen Valihura, the second woman to serve on Delaware’s highest
court, who concluded her term on July 25, 2026. Judge Montgomery-Reeves was the third woman to serve on the Delaware Supreme Court.
