Sunday saw the end of the five-day Flounder Pounder Tournament held out of Paradise Grill on Long Neck.
The El Nino with Captain Nino Aversa out of New Jersey brought in an 8.6-pound flounder on Wednesday and it not only won $5,000 in the Daily Calcutta but it held on over the next four days to take the $100,000 first prize. The winning angler was Dylan Montgomery. The Builder’s Choice out of Long Neck with Captain Joe Ribinsky came in on Saturday with a 7.9-pound flounder to move into second place where he stayed through Sunday to take home $50,000. Joe was also the angler on that fish. Lewes boats that finished in the money were Katydid with Captain Brent Wiest and angler Chris Vann in seventh place with a 6.7-pounder flounder winning $8,000. Perfect Mixture with the Falgowski brothers in eighth place with a 6.3 pounder winning $6,000 and Team Grizzly in ninth place with their 6.2-pound flounder winning $4,000.
