UPDATED: Protests in Seaford over fatal hit-and-run

UPDATED 4/25:  About a hundred people took to the streets in Seaford yesterday to protest what they call the lax treatment of a man who killed a 9-year old girl in a hit-and-run accident last week. Led by Shaquita Truitt, the mother of the girl killed, the protest marched down Norman Eskridge Highway to Town Hall. The group expressed anger and frustration 21-year old Dwayne McConnell was able to post bond after striking and killing a 9 year old then fleeing the scene earlier this month.

Delaware State Police arresting the driver in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Seaford.

According to police, last Thursday evening Dwayne McConnell was driving northbound on German Road towards Old Furnace when he struck a 9 year old girl walking back to her house after checking the mailbox.

McConnell sped off northbound, leaving the scene. Late Saturday night, the girl died from her injuries.

On Monday, troopers located McConnell and arrested him for vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash, among other charges. He was released on $6,100 unsecured bond.
