Today is an Ozone Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Delaware – particularly the northern parts of the state.
Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper-80s will enhance ozone formation. Furthermore, calm to light and variable winds will hinder dispersion and allow pollutants and ozone precursors to accumulate, primarily in the northern portion of the state. As a result, AQI levels are anticipated to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups for ozone and low-Moderate for Particulate Matter 2.5.
Tuesday, August 5: Easterly to east-southeasterly winds during the afternoon will recirculate thin-density wildfire smoke into the state. Additionally, periods of sunshine and temperatures in the upper-80s will continue to promote ozone development. Therefore, AQI levels are anticipated to be high-Moderate for ozone and low-Moderate for PM2.5.
