WINTER STORM: Lewes BPW
January 24, 2026/
The Lewes Board of Public Works is closely monitoring the upcoming winter storm and we want to help you prepare and stay informed. Our crews are actively monitoring conditions and preparing our systems to maintain reliable service.
How to Prepare:
- Protect your plumbing: Insulate exposed pipes, allow a small drip from faucets during extreme cold, and keep cabinet doors open under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.
- Know how to shut off your water: Locate your main shut-off valve in case of a pipe break.
- Prepare for possible outages: Have flashlights, batteries, and a phone charger available. Avoid using candles for lighting.
- Use space heaters safely: Keep heaters away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.
During the Storm:
- Report outages, leaks, or emergencies to 302-645-6228.
- Avoid travel if possible and stay clear of downed power lines or flooded areas.
We will provide updates on our website and social media as conditions change. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe.
