Traffic Stop near Laurel Friday Lead to Drug Arrest

Two people were arrested after a traffic stop Friday morning in Laurel. Delaware State Police on patrol stopped a vehicle around 2am in the area of Fire Tower and Sycamore Roads after observing a traffic violation. The driver was identified as a 36 year old man from Selbyville – the passenger 38 year old Nicole Kenton of Harrington. Drug paraphernalia was seen in plain view by the trooper. A search of the vehicle led to additional drug paraphernalia belonging to both occupants, 48 bags of suspected heroin, as well as suspected cocaine which were in Kenton’s possession. The driver showed signs of impairment – both were arrested.
Kenton was taken to Troop 5 where she was charged with the below listed offenses: arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and released on a $8,000 unsecured bond.
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 5 counts
Kenton was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and released on a $8,000 unsecured bond.
The driver was taken to Troop 5 and later released after being issued a summons for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and related traffic offenses.
