Phase 1 Construction for Mid-Chesapeake Bay Island Ecosystem Restoration Project at James Island Beginning

Phase 1 construction for the Mid-Chesapeake Bay Island Ecosystem Restoration Project by the US Army Corps of Engineers at James Island in Dorchester County is beginning.

Similar to the area around Barren Island, boaters should expect to see an increase in barge and vessel traffic and marked material pipes. Boaters should avoid accessing the water surrounding James island as underwater construction activities in the area may cause damage to vessels and equipment.
