DSP Arrest Georgetown Woman after Road Rage Incident

A Georgetown woman was arrested after a road rage incident on Dupont Boulevard near Shortly Road Friday morning around 11:30. Police were called for a road rage incident involving a firearm. Police learned that a Yukon with Delaware tags pulled alongside the victim – a 49 year old Houston, DE man. Both vehicles were southbound when some type of road rage occurred and the driver of the Yukon showed a handgun and continued southbound. With help from Millsboro Police the suspect vehicle was located at Routes 113 and 24 in Millsboro and a traffic stop conducted and the driver was identified as 20 year old Melleca Butler of Georgetown. She was arrested and consented to a search of the Yukon where police located an unloaded handgun between the driver’s seat and center console which Butler does not have a permit to carry a concealed deadly weapon.
Butler was transported to Troop 4, where she was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
Butler was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $23,500 cash bond.
