UPDATED: DSP Investigating Fatal Crash East of Georgetown Thursday Evening

UPDATED – 10/18/25 – Delaware State Police have identified 25-year-old Gudiel Ramirez-Lopez of Laurel as the man who died in the fatal crash in Georgetown on Thursday.

ORIGINAL STORY – 10/17/25 – A crash Thursday evening around 6:15 at Route 9 – east of Gravel Hill Road – left one dead and 1 injured. Delaware State Police say a Honda driven by a 25 year old Laurel man was westbound on Route 9 and for unknown reasons crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound Audi driven by an 18 year old woman from Hockessin.

Police say the driver of the Honda was not properly restrained and was taken to an area hospital where he later died. The driver of the Audi was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
