Hebron man charged with DUI in hit & run crash

A hit-and-run crash led to the arrest of a Hebron man on DUI charges Monday evening.

According to Maryland State Police, around 8 p.m., troopers were dispatched to Main Street in Hebron for reports of a suspected drunk driving/hit and run collision involving damage to property at a home.

When police arrived they observed a license plate from a vehicle lying in the victim’s yard, which led troopers to a nearby home where the suspected vehicle was located.

The suspect, 43-year-old Larry Merritt of Hebron, showed signs of impairment and smelled of alcohol, according to police. He submitted to a field sobriety test which he police say he failed.

Merritt was charged with driving under the influence related to the hit and run collision.
