After a bombing in Syria over the weekend by an American-led coalition, Maryland Senator Ben Cardin wants Congress to get serious on Syria. He released a statement following the bombings urging the Trump Administration to hold Syria’s President accountable for war crimes.

Sen. Cardin says the White House should champion his and Senator Marco Rubio’s bill that would facilitate an international war crimes tribunal. Additionally, Cardin is calling on fellow senators to negotiate an updated version to the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force drafted after 9/11.

Cardin says that order is outdated for the pursuit of ISIS and does not apply to the current engagement in Syria.
