Ocean Pines hosting free Pickleball clinics

Delmarva is the birthplace of Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in America, combining tennis, badminton and ping pong. As its popularity skyrockets, and pickleball courts get installed throughout the area, Ocean Pines wants you to be on the cutting edge of society.

Two instructional clinics for beginners being offered over the next few weeks, one tonight and one in two weeks. Open for anyone to attend, whether a member of Ocean Pines or not, and youll learn the basics of the sport in the instructed clinics.

The clinics are free, and preregistration is required – call the Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Department at 410-641-7052 or email John Hanberry at jhanberry@comcast.net.

Ocean Pines will also offer indoor clinics for intermediate players at the community center on Fridays, Feb. 16 and March 2 from 5-6 p.m. The clinics will be taught by Jackie Kurtz and will focus on dinking drills.  There is no fee for the intermediate clinic, but the regular indoor play fees do apply:  $2 for Ocean Pines pickleball members; $3 for non-memberOcean Pines residents; and $5 for nonresidents.

Ocean Pines pickleball courts and programs are open to the public; membership is not required to participate. Information regarding additional recreational programs, including an online version of the Ocean Pines Activity Guide, is available at www.OceanPines.org.
