Sussex County Inspector Injured in Industrial Accident in Lewes

Just after noon Monday, Lewes emergency personnel were called for a report of an industrial accident in the area of Savannah Road near Bayview Medical Drive.

Delaware State Police say that preliminary investigation revealed that a Sussex County Inspector, a 75 year old man from Dover, was standing near an excavator when it swing – knocking him into an approximately 15-foot deep hole. The man was rescued from the hole and taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

DSP Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit determined the incident to be an accident.
