The US-50 Bridge in Ocean City is closing tonight to repair a crack in a beam. MDOT crews discovered the crack recently, and say while the bridge is safe and operable, the repair is necessary to ensure the bridge can handle to lode of tourists coming this spring and summer.

The closure is needed so crews can lift the drawbridge to access the trouble spot. Drivers will be detoured to MD-90 (Ocean City Expressway) during the repairs. Boaters and marine traffic will not be affected by the work.

The work will begin at 10 PM tonight and will last as long as needed, currently officials estimate it should take until 8 AM Saturday morning.
