WGMD Fishing Report 4-26-21

The small craft advisories that were supposed to drop out on Monday afternoon, didn’t. Therefore, no boats hit the tog grounds and, for whatever reason, the shad didn’t show up at Indian River Inlet. As the week goes on the wind is supposed to drop out and move to the south. This should bring up the water temperature and improve the fishing. I certainly hope so.

I have two sons, Ric in Virginia Beach and Roger in Freehold, New Jersey. Both are catching big fish while I can’t catch a cold.

Roger is slaying stripers in the Manasquan River at night from his kayak casting or trolling SP Minnows. He has them in the slot as well as above and below.

Ric is also fishing from his kayak, only he is catching 40 to 50-inch red drum in the shallow water behind the Barrier Islands. The last report I had from him he said he came upon a school of big drum with their backs out of the water and hooked up with three. They pull him and his kayak all over the place.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD Fishing Report.
