WGMD Fishing Report 5-2-21

Sunday saw the wind drop out to southwest 10 to 15 knots and that is the forecast right through Wednesday.  There were people fishing from the beach and from boats with some luck from both venues.

Patty at Captain Bones in Odessa and Steve from Smith Bait in Leipsic said rockfish have been caught in and above the 28 to 35-inch slot on cut bunker and bloodworms from Green’s Beach, Collins Beach and Woodland Beach.  Most of these big rockfish were taken from boats, but a few were caught from shore.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina told us they saw black drum caught from a boat fishing off of Broadkill Beach.  They also cleaned some tog caught at the Outer Wall.

At Dan’s Bait and Tackle, Dan heard of some trout caught in a crabber’s trap.  This would be a good sign for the future.

Burt at Hook ‘em and Cook ‘em, told us he had reports of big rockfish caught from the jetty on Saturday night.  I am not surprised because of all the bait at the inlet.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD Fishing Report.
