WGMD Fishing Report 5-28-21

Small craft advisories were up on Friday and will be followed by gale warnings on Saturday. Not exactly what we wanted for the first holiday of the summer season. Mother Nature can be a cruel mother.

Believe it or not, but some fish were caught on Friday. Amanda at Lewes Harbour Marina said the Katydid and the Grizzly fished Delaware Bay late Thursday night into Friday to catch black drum for their parties.

At the fishing pier on Cape Henlopen State Park, Lighthouse View Tackle said some flounder and the first croaker of the season, were caught on Friday. The first spot were caught earlier in the week so the regular pier fishing fare is building up for the summer.

At Old Inlet Bait and Tackle the report was lots of hickory shad at Indian River Inlet on shad darts and small spoons. A few blues showed up as well. Metal lures such as spoons and Stingsilvers work best on the blues. I suspect a few crazy rockfish anglers will be on the jetties tonight.

This is Eric Burnley with your WGMD fishing report.
