WGMD Fishing Report 5-31-21

Monday was a decent day, but seas in the ocean were still running three to four feet and to the best of my knowledge only one boat tried for sea bass and he ended up with eight. When we have three very rough days in a row the bottom gets churned up and the sea bass get tossed around. It takes a tide or two for things to settle down and the fish to return to their more normal feeding routine.

Tommy at Lewes Harbour Marina said no boats went out on Monday, but he thought some would run on Tuesday when the seas in the ocean would be two feet or less. On May 27 Andy Pate managed to catch a 17-inch flounder out of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal on a Lewes Harbour minnow.

Lighthouse View Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park said flounder and croaker were caught from the pier on Monday. Crabs are also available for those who want them.

Old Inlet told us some keeper and larger rockfish were caught from the surf on cut bunker.
