Visitors from around the world will descend on Chincoteague, Virginia tonight and Wednesday for the annual pony swim. The northern and southern herds were rounded up last weekend and they will swim across the Assateague channel at slack tide on Wednesday morning – between 8:30 and 10:30am and after a short rest they parade their way to the Carnival Grounds. The first foal to come ashore is the King or Queen Neptune and will be raffled off Wednesday night at 7pm at the bandstand and you must be present to win. The pony auction is Thursday. Ponies that are buy backs or not sold will swim back across the channel on Friday.
