Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 05/05/25
Flounder season officially opens today, and early reports from Delaware Bay are promising. Anglers have been catching flounder while targeting striped bass and bluefish, indicating a strong start to the season.
The north jetty is producing large striped bass, with catches over 40 inches reported during early morning hours. Bluefish are also active, with notable catches like a 34-inch blue in the south pocket. Tautog fishing remains steady, and shad are appearing on incoming tides .
Surf anglers are finding success with black drum and bluefish. Fresh bunker and live surf clams are effective baits. The Old Inlet Spring Surf Fishing Tournament is underway today, so expect increased activity along the beaches.
Trout fishing is excellent following recent stockings of brown and rainbow trout in streams like White Clay Creek and Pike Creek.聽Anglers are reporting good catches using spinners and live bait.
