Dover Man Arrested for Burglary at Area Church


Dover Police have arrested a 42-year-old Dover man on burglary charges following an incident at Holy Cross Church on South State Street. The investigation began Tuesday afternoon when Dover Police received a call regarding the burglary. Officers learned that the individual identified as Joseph Skowronski attempted to take money from the collection boxes. He had a no-contact order in place from a separate incident at Holy Cross. Warrants were obtained for Skowronski. Yesterday, June 11th, at around 2 a.m., Patrol Officers conducted a proactive property check at Holy Cross Church, given the burglary on the previous night. Officers found an open door and began to check the building and then found Skowronski inside and he was taken into custody without incident.

Skowronski is at SCI on $6,000 secured bail on several charges including:
-Burglary Third Degree
-Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree
-Attempted Theft
-Non-Compliance with Bond (2x)

Skowronski is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
