Dover Man Arrested for Raping, Strangling 72-Year-Old Woman

Dover Police have arrested a 36-year-old Dover man for raping and strangling a 72-year-old woman while inside her home on Tuesday afternoon. Police say Antonio Powell is known to the victim. A warrant was obtained for Powell’s arrest, and just after 3:30 p.m., a Dover Police Motor Unit Officer took Powell into custody without incident in the area of West Reed Street and South Governors Ave. The exact location/area of this incident is not being disclosed in an attempt to protect the identity of the victim. Powell was transported to the Dover Police Department, where he was processed and arraigned. Powell is at SCI on $110,000 cash bail on charges of Rape First Degree and Strangulation.
