Pocket Dial Leads to Gun and Drug Arrest in Seaford
A pocket-dialed call to 911 led to the arrests of two individuals including one on gun and drug charges. The call on August 2nd led Seaford Police to a vehicle outside 332 N. Market Street Dispatchers overheard a woman mentioning a man pulling a gun and shooting. Officers responded and spotted the vehicle, prompting the driver–54-year-old James Jenkins– to run away. Police caught Jenkins who then resisted arrest. Police found cocaine on him and more drugs including meth and unprescribed pills, along with a stolen loaded revolver, in the vehicle. Jenkins, who is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm, faces multiple felony charges and is being held at SCI on $84,500 bail.
The female passenger, 39-year-old Mia Purnell, claimed she wasn’t in danger and didn’t know why police came. The call was confirmed to have come from her phone. She was arrested on outstanding capias’ and later released on unsecured bail.
