Five Injured in Single Vehicle DUI Crash West of Greenwood

A Harrington man has been arrested after a single vehicle crash on Route 16/Hickman Road west of Greenwood that injured five people. Delaware State Police were called around 11:20 Friday night and contacted the driver of the Ford Edge, 27 year old Ivory Brown of Harrington. Troopers smelled alcohol and observed other signs of impairment and given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and arrested. Police learned the Edge left the roadway near Woodbridge Road and went into a ditch and overturned several times.
Two passengers were ejected. A 27 year old man and 25 year old woman, both from Milford, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Two other 19 year old men and a 6 year old were treated for minor injuries.
Brown was taken to Troop 5 and charged with the following offenses:
- Vehicular Assault First Degree – Driving Under the Influence Negligent Injury (Felony) – 2 counts
- Vehicular Assault Second Degree – Driving Under the Influence Negligence Causes Injury – 3 counts
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child While Driving Under the Influence
- Driving Under the Influence
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked
- Other Traffic Offenses
Brown was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,402 secured bond.
